*NEW* CLASSIC PATCH WORK - A Review

This is another beautiful Japanese-inspired quilting book by Yoko Saito.

With my love of hand stitching, I was eager to read and learn from this
book.  There are 78 motifs, or blocks, and 10 different
style bags/totes patterns included with this book.

After Yoko's introduction, the very first pages explain in detail how
to use this book.  There are both written instructions and pictures
to guide you through her process of creating a pieced block.

Have a peek of a few of the bags....

Done up in pastels I think this would be cute for Easter.

I absolutely love this one,,, just imagine all the 'goodies'
you could pack and tote around with the
Tailgate Tote!!

I chose this one for my first project.  I thought the little
wonky type squares were cute and I can always
use a little zipper pouch .

As you can see, each page has a different pattern with
a photo, a graphed pattern and numbered
construction steps.  Most of the blocks finish at 3 1/2"
square, but since they are on a graph they can easily be
sized up if you so choose.

I chose to be over cautious at attempting my first block,
tracing, cutting and laying out all those
little pieces.

And numbering them in the order they are to be sewn together..

Ta-Daaah...One quarter of the  first block!!  It's a
little more crooked than it's supposed to be I think,,
but I'm enjoying the process!!

As you can see it is very tiny!  I still have to make three more
to complete this block but I love it.  I will show you my progress on
the blocks and the pouch as I complete them.

In conclusion, I really like this book.  I had heard of Yoko Saito,
but haven't tried any of her books before.   It has clear, concise directions
with lots of pictures, 78 blocks/motifs
to pick from to create, and ten purse patterns(full size pattern insert)
 to make from those blocks.
And as you can see, using your fave fabric colors will make these items
uniquely yours.   This book is published by F+W Media.  You can
purchase a copy here.  (pssst it's on sale!)

Happy Friday to You
Have a Wonderful Stitchy Weekend!!
